Slow Boating - Safe and Efficient Travel on Water

If you enjoy the outdoors and being on the water, you might enjoy 'slow boating'. Our concern was being able to safely move around large bodies of water and being able to transport a variety of equipment such as kayaks, inflatables, camping equipment, fishing equipment, snorkling and diving equipment, and other items that add to the enjoyment of the outdoors.

Powering the Boat

The power on the boat is provided by a 9.9 hp 4-stroke (electric start) outboard motor on a fixed mount. A second smaller outboard acts as backup in case of difficulties with the primary. A rudder is used for steering. At 70% power, the motor is easily able to power the boat along at 6+ knots. In a variety of wind conditions, the motor averaged 12 mpg (over 150 miles); providing a range of about 300 miles per tank.
